IMO, Solar will never be anything but a
supplemental source of energy. Using today's technology, solar panels
are not highly efficient at converting sunlight to electricity.
Electric transmission is very inefficient. Storage of electricity is
very inefficient. Without gov't subsidies (re: reallocation of
wealth) you would not see a single solar panel anywhere. What is
never discussed in the MSM or by the “greenies” is that all these
photo cells contain massive amount of hazardous e-waste with no known
recycling methodology at this time. Stubborn thing facts, after all.
I think where gov't should spur research, as it's national defense
related (thus Constitutional) is in improving electric
transmission/distribution grid efficiencies.
