Police responded to a violent felon home invasion. Those offices put their life on the line to help. It didn't work out like in the movies, sadly. But it doesn't change the fact that under extreme duress, having to make a split millisecond decision, they tried their honest best to help. It's really sad the ending didn't turn out as we all would have hoped for.

I think we can all agree that Andrea Rebello, was not only a beautiful young woman, but had a very bright future ahead of her.

So, now that we have a face to associate with this tragedy, feel more angry, I do!!
What is the root cause. Some, as always will try to second guess from the safety of there couch, with no threat and the nicety of time to reflect on the actions of the Officers. If, Then???? Some folks are more nefarious, and will simply blame the well intentioned actions of the Officer(s).

I take a different position, one I in my heart believe correct.

What we know of the perpetrator:  "......a wanted man with a criminal history dating nearly 15 years....Smith, 30, had been wanted on a parole violation related to a first-degree robbery conviction. A warrant was issued for Smith on April 25 for absconding from parole, police said.
Smith had what police described as "an extensive criminal history," which included arrests for robbery in the first degree in 1999, promoting prison contraband in the second degree in 2000, robbery in the first degree in 2003, assault in the second degree in 2003 and robbery in the second degree in 2003....." Basicly put, a SCUMBAG thru and thru.
So, a career criminal, a never do good ever, with an illegal handgun. Shocking, right? Right!
So, what to do?
a) Nice job NYS Parole Board, NOT! Who so ever voted for his release should be fired. Actions/decisions have CONSEQUENCES!!
b) Legalize pot (marijuana). Then parole all non violent pot prisoners. Give a large retroactive fine and Probation. But, make space in prison for this type ilk.....We must make space for scum like this.
c) Enforce three "strikes you are out" for all crimes that are violent in nature or involve a weapon, or the threat of a weapon at a bare minimum weather the initial or secondary crime involved actual violence or not.
d) Minimum 20 year year sentence for the possession of an illegal gun. Period. Twenty years minimum. That will take the steam out of the use, transport, trade and possession of illegal weapons. The mere possession is 20. Commit a crime with an illegal gun??? Then twenty for possession, plus what ever additional charges can be brought, and gain conviction, consecutive, by law. No concurrent sentences on violent crimes involving weapons.

Let's as a society wake up, and address the fact that there are freaking bad people out there that do not share our morals or values.

R.I.P.  Ms. Andrea Rebello. Heaven has another Angel.

Is it just me or are the rest of you baffled about how the President of the USA can know absolutely nothing about anything going on in his administration?

On the repudiation of Obamanomics .......

“The number of people not in the labor force which in March soared by a massive 663,000 to a record 90 million Americans who are no longer even looking for work. And even worse, the labor force participation rate plunged from an already abysmal 63.5% to 63.3% - the lowest since 1979! But at least it helped with the now painfully grotesque propaganda that the US unemployment rate is ‘improving.’ “"

How long must we suffer? How bad must it get before supporters of failed Keynsian economics and/or the paradise that is Obamanomics admit these policies are an absolute, utter, abysmal failure as measured by all historical data. Character still counts, and policies matter.

Students First

StudentsFirst. I'd like to tell you a bit more about what we're fighting for.

Every morning in America, as we send eager fourth graders off to school, ready to learn with their backpacks and lunch boxes, we are entrusting them to an education system that accepts the fact that only one in three of them can read at grade level!!!!!!!!!!
Let me repeat that: Only one in three U.S. fourth graders can read at grade level. This is not okay!!!
But studies have shown that in just one year, students with an effective teacher are able to improve by one and a half grade levels. This impact is so significant that the "achievement gap" between low- and high-income students and between minority and non-minority students can effectively be erased by only three consecutive years of great teachers.
It's time we recognize the value of great teachers. At StudentsFirst, it's our goal to make sure every child in America has a great teacher in every classroom. From improving teacher evaluations, to ending seniority-based teacher layoffs, to paying effective teachers higher salaries and bonuses, there are many ways we can elevate the teaching profession in this country to a level that reflects its importance and attracts talented individuals to join its ranks.
Help us share the message about the need for education reform by sharing the "1 in 3 fourth graders" image on Facebook:

fiat money

Until such time that the average citizen grasps the fact that all of economics can be boiled down to one sentence: “You can either create wealth, or borrow it” we are in trouble.
.
.
.
We have chosen to borrow it. Payback is a bitch. The Fed Gov't borrows .46C of every dollar it spends.
This before we discuss the Federal Reserve debasing the value of the dollar thru QE1, QE2, QE3, etc, etal......EVERY Currency based upon Fiat monet (fiat money is money back by “the full faith and credit of_____________” has resulted, in the end, in hyper inflation.

We have a spending problem not a revenue problem. Think about it. The Fed pour 3 Billion dollare a day into the available flow of Dollars. Is this sustainable? For how long? One Dollar is only worth One Dollar up and until people no longer believe it is. Then, the fall is dramic and sudden. (Think Weimar Republic [Germany after WWI]

But, that is not what the people voted for- for any number of reasons, #1 being privy to the truth. The strongest of men understand that they are the first witness to all their actions. With that witness being their greatest judge and harshest critic, they absolutely refuse to violate their principles and ethics. No matter what. So where do we all stand. Solve a problem long term, or continue to play these self inflicted games in lieu of telling "We the People" the truth. That promises made cannot be kept. Today, Tomorrow, or someday...but someone will have to. The day of reconing is near.

thoughts and quotes on the current war on law abiding gun owners

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive."
--Noah Webster, An Examination of the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution (Philadelphia 1787).

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom. Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birthright of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
--Tenche Coxe, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

"Whereas, to preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them; nor does it follow from this, that all promiscuously must go into actual service on every occasion. The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle; and when we see many men disposed to practice upon it, whenever they can prevail, no wonder true republicans are for carefully guarding against it."
--Richard Henry Lee, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Feb. 20, 1788.

R E S P O N S I B I L I T Y

We can talk about changing the world in a positive way everyday and not see results. I believe the change starts from within. Be the change you wish to see. Wake up with the intention to learn, to become better, to inspire! Learn as much as possible to be educated enough to make a difference. It's about dreaming, encouraging, inspiring, imagining, loving, learning. Treat others how you want to be treated. Treat all fairly, but let no-one mistake politeness for weakness. Lose the hate, it only destroys you. Share instead of take. Hope for the hopeless. Dream for the dreamless. Encourage the discouraged. Instead of pointing at the person that is down, open up your hand and help 'em up. Instead of being jealous or envious of the person who has more; work harder, learn more and then apply what you learn. Equality under the law does not mean equality of outcome.
Take some damn personal responsibility!
